Does my car have any speed potential?

I own a 1998 mazda 626 lx with the 4 cyl 16 valve DOHC it has an automatic transmission, i think it could possibly have some potential, considering the face they do have aftermarket parts available for it, and it redlines at 6500 rpm, if it does have potential, can some one please tell me the best CHEAP ways to get better acceleration?
