Gerbil split cage method?

can someone please tell me EVERYTHING about the split cage method in as much detail as possible? i am currently doing it with 2 male gerbils 1 i got 2 weeks ago and the other 2 days ago. please just tell me step by step what to do with ALOT of detail, detail will be rewarded. thank you
