Is it ok to make a LEGO house for my gerbil?

ive heard and seen people make LEGO houses for the gerbils and hamsters and im not sure if its ok. will they just chew rite through it or will it be fine? i have ALOT of legos and am good with them so building it wont be a problem and it seems pretty cool, i have 2 male gerbils (joo-joo, and stranger). thanks :)
